The Dallas World Aquarium is seeking a motivated and personable Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary and animal care team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a large zoological and aquarium facility assisting in the care of a wide variety of exotic species including birds, reptiles, mammals, fish, and amphibians.

The Veterinary Technician will work closely with veterinarians and animal care staff to support the health, treatment, and welfare of the animals in our care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with medical examinations, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Assist with anesthesia monitoring and surgical procedures
  • Perform laboratory diagnostics and sample preparation
  • Assist with radiographs and medical imaging
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed
  • Maintain medical records and treatment documentation
  • Assist with preventative health care and quarantine procedures
  • Work collaboratively with animal care staff to monitor animal health
  • Assist with emergency veterinary care when required

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in Texas or eligible for licensure
  • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program

Additional experience considered:

  • Exotic animal or wildlife medicine
  • Avian, reptile, or aquatic species care
  • Zoo, aquarium, or wildlife rehabilitation experience

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Stand, walk, and work on your feet for extended periods
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments
  • Safely handle animals and assist with restraint when needed
  • Work weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules as required
