Newsletters
Eco Currents, the quarterly newsletter, offers a glimpse into the latest and greatest animals and exhibits at The Dallas World Aquarium. The articles are often written about our involvement in various in situ programs in Central and South America. The center in Iquitos has taken on added responsibilities and we currently have six orphaned Amazonian manatees (Trichechus inunguis). In 2009, we are hoping to procure 40 hectares of land and develop an extensive research and educational facility in order to work with ACOBIA. This non-governmental agency, funded entirely by DWA, handles the day-to-day care and maintenance of the animals. The temporary center has been visited by several thousand students and tourists, interested in seeing and learning more about the young animals. Habitat protection and other conservation directives are promoted and the guests are thrilled with the work being done in Peru. Our upcoming issues keep you informed about this exciting project. Please do not miss the website of our Acobia manatee center at www.acobia-dwa.org/
Enjoy the website and please feel free to give us any ideas and/ or suggestions (info@dwazoo.com), as we navigate to keep it updated in order to inform and educate our past guests and also spark interest in those who plan to visit.
