Fish
Fish in the Mundo Maya exhibit range in size from tiny Blind cavefish to large sharks. Four-eyed fish, cichlids and seahorses are throughout the lower level.
Colorful angelfish, durgons, butterflyfish and pufferfish can be seen in the saltwater exhibit above the Cenote, near the Ceiba tree that represents the Tree of Life to the Maya.
The Cenote, a 400,000-gallon exhibit, surrounds guests as they walk through the 40-foot tunnel. The Cenote represents underground pools which were vital to the survival of the people in the Yucatan region. Cenotes were believed to be the homes of many spirits and passages to the underworld. Living in this exhibit are Brown and Bonnethead sharks, Eagle and Cownose rays, sawfish and giant groupers.
